Our Director and Lead Skipper is Nick Hopwood, who is an experienced business manager and yachtsman. Second in Command is Karen Hopwood who co-ordinates Blue Sky Marine’s activities.

Nick has extensive experience in a wide range of management roles from engineering operations, sales, customer service and project management. He has worked as an interim manager in service industries where competitive edge, efficiency and effectiveness are essential to sustainable growth in profitability.

Afloat
Nick has been sailing since childhood and is now holds an RYA Yachtmaster (Offshore) Certificate of Competence. This certificate carries a Commercial Endorsement, which means that Nick has met the requirements set by the MCA to work on a professional basis. In addition, Nick is a qualified Yachtmaster Instructor, Powerboat Instructor and an RYA-trained Race Officer.
In his spare time, he sails with his wife aboard their Starlight 39 based in the Solent, and enjoys local club racing throughout the year.
